For some, this local derby match will be a repeat of last years walk, from Launceston Rugby Ground to Okehampton Rugby Ground, to raise money for a defibrillator. It was Gary Sizmur (Sizzy) who dropped them off at the starting point around 6am. Sadly a year on and they are mourning his passing. Over the last few months Okehampton, North Tawton & Bridestowe Rugby Club's have embarked on raising money for men's mental health charities, a total already exceeding £10,000.00 Okehampton personnel have decided to repeat this walk again and this time James Stevens (Sec) Pete Goss (PR) will be joined by Gary's wife Charli and Mum Pam.) with money raised going to Petes's Dragons Charity who have been supporting Sizzy's family.
At the early hour of just after 6am, Susan Jamieson President was at Launceston Rugby Club, sending the four Okehampton walkers on their way as they leave Cornwall, across Polson Bridge into Devon to make their way to Okehampton Rugby Club in time for the 2.30 KO. Jon Perry waved them off as well, and will later be found at Okehampton Rugby Ground with a Bucket for donations - irrespective of whether you donate or not, we can all do our bit to ensure we keep men talking.
