As at 28 February - The RFU have now published the redrawn draw for the Papa Johns Cup where last season the Cornish All Blacks reached the finals but then lost in a pulsating free-flowing game in poor conditions where 100 points were scored. This year’s final is again at the Sixways Worcester ground.
The draw which originally gave Launceston two home matches out of three now has only one home match with two away. The first away match is against old rivals Barnstaple who as we know are currently second in our league with 68 points whereas Launceston at 5th with 56 points. Barnstaple away will be a challenge with the CABs only recently having lost to them in the league in very demanding circumstances – losing two forwards in the warmup. Hopefully with a full team we will give them a sterner examination. The game is scheduled for Saturday 13th April and your vocal support will be greatly appreciated.
So then we have a home game against Oxford Harlequins who are currently top of Regional 1 Midlands with 80 points. Their home record is won 9 and away won 7 and lost 2. We look forward to giving them a great Polson welcome to the West Country.
Then on 27th April the CABs travel to Banbury who are 6th in Regional 1 Midlands with 51 points. Their record is 6 home wins with 2 home losses and 3 away wins and 5 away losses.
The Cornish All Blacks have had a reasonably successful season so far unlike last season and there is great expectation they can go all the way and win the Cup but the changes in this updated draw ensure it will certainly be more challenging than last year.
As they say “Come on you Blacks!”
