Launceston Ladies Match Report

19/12/2021 vs Camborne Combined
After last week’s league fixture vs Teignmouth was cancelled due to the
opposition not being able to raise a side to travel to Polson, the ladies
were able to organise a fixture against a non-league Camborne side.
The friendly was a perfect opportunity for development in both camps
with Camborne linking up with Truro ladies and Penryn ladies (with some
players being gracefully lent to Launceston too) and Launceston Ladies
blooding at least 5 debutants as well as a number of positional changes.
For quite a few of these players on both teams this was their first ever
game of rugby but you would never have noticed such was the standard
of play on display.
Camborne played the first half as if they were a well established team,
playing with no fear and taking the game straight to Launceston. Their
tenacity meant by halftime they were well in the game, scoring 2 tries to
Launceston’s 3, bearing in mind the Launceston defence has only
conceded 2 tries once this season. But their gutsiness ran dry in the
second half as Launceston showed their durability and league hardiness
as Camborne players started to drop one by one and Launceston went
through the gears, keeping a clean sheet and score 5 more tries,
including a hat-trick from the unstoppable KIm Upcott.
The debutants grew into the game and showed they can play at this
level and more than hold their own, leaving Coach Martin Sandercock
with a welcome headache of selection for the ladies next game against
Bideford in the new year 9th January at Polson Bridge downing their new
kit.
The Ladies would thank you for your support for 2021 and look forward
to your continued support in 2022. Merry Christmas and a Happy New
Year
One in, All in!!!
